Latest book release: Life Through Art

A full-circle moment is here.

Life Through Art, a book I lovingly worked on for five years, is now ready to be shared with you.

In my latest book, I unveil the personal experiences that united me with an art healing modality. That is, a method of visual art where the individual relinquishes the urge to control the outcome on the page in lieu of liberating what their intuition seeks to express.

It is a stream of consciousness approach to artmaking which promotes healing benefits beyond the satisfaction of executing a particular image. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I’m very passionate about the fact that everyone can do art healing.

You don't need to be a technically good artist to use art as a vehicle for healing or self-realisation. All you need is your preferred art medium and a willingness to move across the page in whatever way you're called…

Through original art, poetry and incisive self-reflection, I explore the connection between being creative, healing from trauma, and becoming more aware of the spiritual world. This is offered as a guide for how you can use art healing to flow into a more fulfilling path.

How the book started

First lockdown of 2020. University classes had moved online and opportunities for internships and part-time work were stilted. I also had limited access to beloved friends and family (as we all experienced). This, in tandem with the evolving bigger picture situation filled me with emotions I didn’t know I could feel.

Without trying to name or deny them, I met with my art pad and pencils.

Colours spinning across the page, I stopped controlling the image. I didn't need a plan or a fixed idea of what should take shape before me - just the intention to release what yearns to be shared.

Everything I felt I couldn't say in words expressed itself on the page before me.

As a lightness swam through me, I thought about all the other ways art had been there for me. How it had helped me reconcile my reality and feel more empowered in myself...

This was where my five-year journey of writing a book began, which also included starting this blog and sharing my musings with you all on social media.

Creating this book is what propelled me to put myself out there in ways that initially frightened me but ultimately led to some deeply rewarding connections with others.

Embracing the ebb and flow of creative work

Working on this book challenged my embedded notions of consistent application as the answer to realising a dream. While that is indeed one integral aspect of any accomplishment, I learned that we must also work with the mysterious ebb and flow of life itself.

Believe it or not, a version of this book was ready in 2021. Although it appeared to be complete, there was a nagging sensation that there was more to come. While I certainly had no idea what the book needed exactly, I trusted my instincts and set the project to the side; I intended to welcome what life wished to share with me.

Where did this take me?

I developed a stronger connection with my spirit guides, was inspired to create and publish a picture book about my relationship with them, formalised an education in energy healing, and endured the rollercoaster challenges of navigating the corporate world and starting my own business.

This life experience evolved both me and the project in ways I couldn’t have imagined back in 2021. I’m glad I had the courage to trust my instincts and be patient. It’s where the magic happens.

Super excited it’s now available for you to enjoy.
